THE HEART
The Heart is an audio art project about intimacy and humanity. Founded in Kaitlin Prest’s bedroom in 2014, The Heart is comprised of a community of badass writers, radio makers and artists who make personal documentary work about their bodies and their loves. In 2017, The Heart was named a Peabody Award Finalist.

KAITLIN PREST | Host & Director
In 2008 Kaitlin Prest started producing a radical sex positive radio show with a group of women and queers in Montreal. Six years and many audio experiments later, she founded the Heart on Radiotopia by PRX. With the Heart she has created award winning audio stories (Peabody Finalist 2017, Third Coast International Audio Award for Best Doc 2016, Prix Italia 2015), presented talks about the craft, and done performances and sound installations at festivals worldwide.

MITRA KABOLI | Senior Producer
Mitra Kaboli is an award-winning media producer who has been working with The Heart since its inception in 2014. Her mixing and sound design has been included in ESPN's Dunkumentaries, Latino USA, Making Contact; and Death, Sex & Money. In addition to The Heart, Mitra makes podcasts for magazines.

SHARON MASHIHI | Editorial Advisor
Before joining the staff of The Heart, Sharon would sit in Kaitlin's bedroom, eating snacks and giving notes on radio stories. Actually, Sharon still does exactly that, but now she has a title. Sharon has her hands in many projects including The School of Making Thinking, the forthcoming feature film The Ticket, and the new WNYC podcast, Lies. Sharon is an avid journaler who can't be sure that anything has happened unless she has written it down.

Phoebe is a multidisciplinary artist who works in radio and visual art; she joined The Heart in 2016, where she does a little of everything, from cutting audio to grant writing to social media. Phoebe formerly produced and managed live events for The Moth and has a studio practice in Brooklyn, NY.
